South Australia Embarks on an Innovation Journey in China
While sometimes dubbed as Australia's rust
belt
state, South Australia has recently came up with an innovative way to
promote its high-tech start-ups in China. The SinoSA initiative was
created last year to provide
commercial advice to young companies looking to enter the world's
largest market. Brendan Manson, former China head of Cochlear, a leading
Australian company in hearing technology, was hired to lead the program
and assist start-ups on the ground with their
negotiations with Chinese business partners. SinoSA is helping 27 innovative
companies enter the mainland, assisting with anything from IP protection, regulatory approval and
distribution.
