Qantas and Tasmania-based Van Dairy announced yesterday a new partnership that will see 50,000 liters of fresh milk shipped weekly to the coastal city of Ningbo in East China. Return flights will be used to transport curtains, awnings and other window shades to Australia.

"Establishing this trade bridge is an exciting venture for our dairy company, and opens the door for access for other Tasmanian producers of fresh, perishables such as seafood, fruit and vegetables to air freight their produce on this direct flight to China." said Van Dairy's spokesperson Sean Shwe in a statement earlier today.

Roundtrips between Hobart and Ningbo are set to begin in the first quarter of 2017, with the capacity to increase to three weekly services in the near future.
