Songcheng, China’s largest theme park operator, revealed plans to create a $400 million theme park on the Gold Coast after receiving Foreign Investment Review Board approval for its local arm to build the “The Australia Legendary Kingdom” project. The Shenzhen-listed company is looking to enter the Australian market which offers diversity in local and international travellers.

Planned to be located in Nerang, the adventure park will boast a variation of both Australian and Oriental themes to meet a diversified tourist demand. “This investment is the first step for Songcheng to go international, and also a key move for us to create the world’s No 1 stage performance operator” the company said.

With an estimated initial cost of $400 million including $66.3 million alone for the land, Songcheng is looking to establish a real presence in Australia’s tourism sector, ahead of other Chinese competitors such as Dalian Wanda.
