Alibaba Cloud to Open New Data Centre in Sydney
Sydney is one of four destinations next in line to host Alibaba’s cloud unit data centres, as part of the company's $1 billion investment to expand its global cloud footprint.
Following a recent announcement that Alibaba will also open an office in Melbourne by the end of 2016, ARNNET reports that the Chinese tech giant is looking to have a dedicated team in the country to grow its influence and market share. “[This move will allow] us to meet the increasing demand for secure and scalable cloud computing services from businesses and industries worldwide – especially Australia,” Alibaba Group Vice President, Ethan Yu said.
Launched in 2009, Alibaba Cloud, also known as Aliyun, supports more than 2.3 million customers worldwide with cross-border transactions, logistics and big data.
