Jiahui Health Hosts Jiahui-Renji Nurse Residency Program Graduation Ceremony
Jeanette Ives Erickson, Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse of Massachusetts General Hospital affiliated to Harvard University Medical School commented, full of enthusiasm as she introduced the first innovative program in China at the Jiahui-Renji Nurse Residency Program Graduation Ceremony.
The Jiahui-Renji Nursing Residency Program, strongly supported by the nursing department of Massachusetts General Hospital, brings more than 20 years of nursing experience to the new nursing residency program established with the Jiahui International Hospital nursing team. Shanghai Renji Hospital provided the teaching site where nine preceptors from Jiahui gave guidance and coaching to 15 new nurses from Jiahui International Hospital. Three highly experienced senior educators from different countries provided a theoretical model of teaching. The past year has been spent laying an important foundation. These nurses will now continue to receive ongoing training for their clinical work at Jiahui International Hospital. In this model, nurses must pass five distinct stages: novice, competence, proficiency, expertise, and mastery to become professional nurses meeting international standards.
Jeanette also expressed that “We will come here on a routine basis. When Jiahui International Hospital opens, it’s my intent to bring a significant number of nurses here to work side by side with Jiahui’s nurses. We want to deliver international care and continue to advance the profession.”
Renji Hospital Vice President Wen Daxiang expressed that "as the partner for this program, providing the facilities and relevant guidance for education, we are very pleased to see the nurses successfully graduate. We are grateful to all of you, for your hard work and efforts.”
June 22, 2017 marked a milestone achievement made by Jiahui nurses in the journey of growth for Jiahui Health. They completed an entire year of training following the concept of “care more”, and delivering their first nursing research paper. They were very grateful to the leaders who came to see them at their graduation ceremony, including Jeanette Ives Erickson and team members Marianne Ditomassi, and Gino Chisari. Also present were Wen Daxiang, the vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University-affiliated Renji Hospital, Yang Yan, head of nursing, Fan Ying, chief head nurse, and Wang Chunyan, head nurse of the emergency intensive care unit. Dr. David Cook, chief clinical and operations officer of Jiahui Health attended with Sally Zhou, chief nursing officer, and six nursing directors.
