Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) is an independent, business driven advocacy organisation focused on linking businesses with opportunity and ensuring our region enjoys sustainable economic growth. The area is known for its thriving agriculture, health, education, manufacturing and energy industries and follows a corridor from Toowoomba to Roma (see map pictured). Toowoomba is one of Australia’s largest inland regional cities and is located in south east Queensland, only 125km from the state capital, Brisbane. Toowoomba was also recently ranked Australia’s second largest agricultural productive region and number one in Queensland. Due to our abundance of grain and fodder, we are the most intensively populated intensive livestock region in Australia. Local sale yards include two of Australia’s largest cattle sale yards at Roma and Dalby, feedlots and several major abattoirs (including Beef City, west of Toowoomba, the largest meat packer and export facility in Australia) and good access to road transport and value-adding facilities. There is also excellent supply chain efficiencies in the region in light of our unsurpassed connectivity to road, rail and air. This efficiency has set Toowoomba up as the Agri-business capital of Australia. Key outputs from the region include: grain, cotton, beef, dairy products, pork and chickens, along with a growing volume of horticulture.
