TV host, presenter, celebrity, author, entrepreneur, and wellness advocate are just some of the terms used to describe Heidi Dugan. Having lived in China for over 25 years, she became the first foreign TV host to have her own TV show in China, You are the Chef, which reaches over 6 million viewers daily, is a live host of Oriental Shopping channel completing up to $2 million in sales in one and a half hours. She has received awards such as Best Foreign TV Host and Most Popular Foreign TV Host, International Leading Woman in Business of the Year, International Alumnus of the Year, and Australia China Alumni Award for the Arts and Creative Industries. She is also Council Member of The University of Southern Queensland.
Heidi is Director of Arete Group. Companies and brands working with Heidi have strategic advantage to successfully integrate into the community, build their corporate network and friendships, and ultimately conduct business faster and expand their success in one of the largest economics markets in the world.
Her influence across Australia and China has been recognized through her media coverage on Channel 9 news, Australian Financial Review, Harper’s Bazaar, China Daily to name a few. She partners with the Shanghai Government and Shanghai Women’s Association to help better educate and train woman in health, nutrition, and parenting.

Cinny Ling

As a family physician, Dr. Ling provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, diseases, and parts of the body. She aims to improve your entire health and wellbeing by focusing on prevention as well as treatment. Dr. Ling believes that a good doctor-patient relationship is very important in health management. Healthy aging for elderly, as well as pediatric and gynecological care are special interests of Dr.Ling.
Dr. Ling has over 10 years of clinical experience. Before joining Shanghai United Family Hospital, Dr. Ling served in the Geriatric department of Shanghai General Hospital as an expert in various geriatric illness, including cardiovascular, infectious disease,cognitive impairment and other degenerative neurological diseases.
Dr. Ling visited Yale University School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital as a visiting physician in 2019.
Dr. Ling is an associate lecturer of Ottawa-Shanghai Joint School of Medicine. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ling is published in medical journals, including the Chinese Journal of Clinical Neurosciences, International Journal of Cerebrovascular Disease.
AustCham Shanghai Wellness Morning
Mental health can sometimes feel like a solitary endeavour but AustCham Shanghai believes that good mental health is a community exercise. Join us on Thursday the 9th of September, the R U OK?Day for a wellness morning, starting with a movement workout at Arete Group’s function room with Heidi. Your participation will help to raise money for our charity partners.
In the post-movement session, we are pleased to have Cinny Ling, a family medicine physician from Shanghai United Family Healthcare to present to us on the health benefits of exercise and maintaining a healthy eating habits during the breakfast session.

R U OK? is a harm prevention charity that encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times in their lives.
Their R U OK?Day is a national day (this year on Thursday 9 September) of action when people are reminded every day is the day to ask "are you OK?" if someone in your world is struggling with life's ups and downs. R U OK? has developed resources to help you encourage more life-changing conversations in your school, workplace and community.
As the main organisor of R U OK?Day in China, Lifeline Shanghai is a volunteer non-profit organisation that has been providing free English-speaking helpline service for the community across China in times of emotional distress or crisis since 2004. Lifeline Shanghai has become a CSR partner of AustCham Shanghai since 2020.
