Event Recap: WeChat CRM and How to Drive Engagement in China

On Thursday, 28 February, AustCham Shanghai 'WeChat CRM and How to Drive Engagement in China' - a presentation on current and future value and trends of WeChat.

Our guest speakers were Kai Hong, Chairman at JINGDigital and Nisha Rao, Strategy and Consulting Manager at IT Consultis Shanghai. They discussed the difference in strategies for attracting followers in China compared to overseas, how to turn these followers into customers and how to best construct your online platform so that these customers find the products you want to sell.

Nisha outlined how companies in China are benefiting greatly from WeChat's dominance of the social media market. In contrast, in other countries, companies need different strategies for different platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon etc. However, in China, consumers all their energy onto a single platform: WeChat. With the right strategies and tools, companies are able to capitalise on this wealth of data and receive concrete feedback as to which of their campaigns are working, and which are not.

Kai then elaborated, outlining the current and future developments of WeChat. Kai spoke on the varied data sources companies can currently utilise in WeChat, from CRM programs and Data Platforms like Tencent and Alibaba, to offline data - each source offering different value to the company.

Despite the opportunities available (and ever increasing), the issue many companies are now facing is that they lack the necessary technical capabilities to collect, own and analyse this data in order to produce tangible business results.
