'Streets of Your Town' Screening

Streets of your town screening

AustCham Shanghai’s Construction and Property Committee and HASSELL invite you to join an intimate screening party of the acclaimed Australian documentary Streets of Your Town, starring comedian, broadcaster, and architecture enthusiast Tim Ross (aka Rosso). He will give a video introduction prior to the screening.

Architecture

Streets of Your Town is a two-part series focusing on the aesthetics of our Australian suburbs. In the 1950s, 60s and 70s Australian architects embraced Modernism in a way that saw their nation have some of the best domestic architecture in the world. They helped create a regional style of architecture that was accessible to almost all Australians.

Fast forward to 2016 and Australia has arguably some of the worst suburban residential architecture in the world. How and why did Australia go from Modernism to McMansionism? In this film, Tim seeks to find out why.
