Notes on Membership Categories 2005-07

  • There is no specific "Australian criteria" in place. Criteria for membership which is simply recognition and support of the Mission, Foundation, Values and Strategic Objectives of AustCham Shanghai remains unchanged.
  • All employees of corporate member businesses who register with AustCham Shanghai will continue to enjoy full membership benefits without further payment
  • All employees of corporate member businesses who register with AustCham Shanghai will be issued a membership card. There will be a limit of two membership cards for the Small Business category employees. Individual members will receive one membership card.
  • Eligibility criteria for the definition of Small Businesses have been established based on APEC criteria. These will be applied on a world-wide operational basis, not just local.
  • The Individual Membership category will be offered in the coming year without restriction and assessed prior to the next AGM for organisational impact. It is not anticipated that current corporate members will transfer into this category. The overall strategic direction of AustCham Shanghai will continue to emphasise corporate membership. Restricted benefits will be offered to Individual Membership with the anticipation that this category will not deliver sufficient benefits to erode the comparative value of corporate membership. Returning alumni will be encouraged to join as Individual Members.
  • Upward mid-term conversion between membership categories is possible. No mid-term downgrading of membership categories will be accepted. Please contact the Secretariat for more details
