30 August 2007 Extension of the Deadline for the "Request for UBPA Self-Recommended Exhibition Cases Proposals"
In order to attract more high quality practices and enable a wider participation of cities in this unprecedented project, the Organizer of Shanghai World Expo decided to extend the deadline of Self-Recommended Exhibition Cases from August 31st, 2007 to January 31st, 2008, taking into account the suggestions given by the BIE and requests from many cities and regions. 4 July 2007 Australian Pavilion Expo 2010 Designer selected ¨C Think OTS
AustCham Shanghai congratulates member company Think OTS in their successful design chosen for the Australian Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 announced by the Australian Government this week. Think OTS¡¯ winning design is distinctive in form, the shape of the pavilion inspired by the Australian coastline and rock formations. It will occupy 3000m2 of the overall 4500m2 site with exhibition, performance, retail, dining and VIP areas. The pavilion will reflect the Expo theme and present the Australian story in 3 acts: Journey, Discover and Enjoy. Melbourne-based company has assembled a team experienced in both Chinaand the Expo-operating environment. Team members have been involved in six Australian pavilions at previous Expos - including the award-winning pavilions in 2000 (Hanover, Germany) and 2005 (Aichi, Japan). Wood Marsh will provide architectural services.

4 July 2007 DFAT response to the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Issues for AustCham Shanghai Members paper
On behalf of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Industry Working Group, AustCham Shanghai initiated the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Issues for AustCham Shanghai Members paper in April 2007.
Dr Lachlan Strahan, Assistant Secretary, Images of Australia Branch at the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade responded to issues and questions raised by members, concerning involvement in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the Australian Pavilion.
Some areas covered, included an update on the design and contruction budget proposal process, the recruitment of bilingual Australian operations staff, and the Australian Pavillion business program. The paper also signalled the expected release of the Shanghai World Expo list of Recommended Services Providers in July 2007.

15 May 2007 Recruitment of the Second Recommended Services Suppliers for the Expo Participants
The Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination announced the second round recruitment of Recommended Services Suppliers for Expo participants on Tuesday 15 May. The Shanghai World Expo Operation and Management Co., Ltd will be the official body to select and manage the chosen Recommended Service Providers that will be authorised to participate in the Shanghai World Expo.
Categories and numbers of service providers: Building engineering (10-15) Finishing & decoration (20-25) Exhibition engineering (15-20) Logistics (15-20) Equipment leasing (5-10) Human resources (5-10) Pavilion operation & management (10-15) Security (3-6) Public relation & advertising (20-25) Legal (20-25)
The application documents will be available for purchase on working days from Wednesday 16 May till Tuesday 22 May at 500RMB per package. These Recruitment Documents are purchased from The Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination at 3588 Pudong South Road, Shanghai 200125.

8 May 2007 Solicitations for Architectural Design Scheme of the China Pavilion & Music Works
The Shanghai World Expo Group has recently announced solicitations for Architectural Design Scheme of the China Pavilion and Music Works for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
The solicitation Architectural Design Scheme of the China Pavilion is open to Chinese firms with no limit to scheme designs per application. These applications are due by 31 May 2007 for the appraisal process and final results to be announced 30 June 2007.
Solicitations for Music Works include the Expo Anthem, Volunteers' Song and Audio Logo open to all, though with varying deadlines: Expo Anthem Solicitation:-January 1, 2009; Volunteers' Song- April 30, 2008; Audio Logo- January 31, 2008.

Australian Federal Budget 07/08 allocation to Australian Shanghai World Expo presence - Phase 1
The Australian Government has provided $1.5 million in 2007-08 to fund preparation for Australia¡¯s participation in World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
Phase 1 funding will be used to prepare project and budget plans for Australia¡¯s presence at the Expo. These plans will cover a wide range of activities, including the business and cultural programs that will take place in and around the Australian pavilion.

10 April 2007 2010 Shanghai World Expo Issues for AustCham Shanghai Members paper
On behalf of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Industry Working Group, AustCham Shanghai initiated the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Issues for AustCham Shanghai Members paper.
This paper is the medium for AustCham Shanghai Corporate and Small Business members to raise issues and questions concerning involvement in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the Australian Pavilion.
Drawing from the diverse expertise of the AustCham Shanghai membership, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Issues for AustCham Shanghai Members paper will inform key organisers from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Canberra of local member companies¡¯ concerns.
The outcomes from this paper will be useful for companies interested in participating in the Australian Pavilion of the World Expo, and the wider Shanghai World Expo at large.
AustCham Shanghai will keep Corporate and Small Business Members informed of outcomes from this paper.

The Expo IWG meets bimonthly for a working breakfast or lunch to keep members up to date with the latest Expo announcements and developments from the Bureau of the Shanghai World Expo Coordination and Department of Foreign Affairs in Camberra. The group is a forum for members to share Expo experience and issues, acting as a platform for members to feedback information to Canberra.
