Can other venues at the World Expo site (i.e. not
inside the Australian pavilion) be used for Australian
promotions?
The Expo site is in use every day of the Expo for a huge variety
of national promotions and Expo Bureau-arranged activities.
Access to venues other than the Australian pavilion will be
difficult to arrange and will not be able to be serviced by the
Australian pavilion staff and infrastructure.
We will address specific requests for the use of other venues by
our stakeholders (Commonwealth agencies, states and territories and
corporate sponsors) on a case-by-case basis. The project team
has no information relating to costs for the use and servicing of
other venues, nor the possible availability of other
venues.

I have heard about the
multi-day tickets, how do they work?
Starting in January, you'll be able to buy three and seven-day
tickets for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo that will allow you to
visit the Expo several times at a cheaper price. The multi-day
tickets will be good for any three or seven days during the
Expo.
How can I get to the Expo site?
Shanghai World Expo 2010 organisers will limit the entrance of
private vehicles severely. The organisers will also apply the
method of layered interception so that the visitors could get to
the Expo Site via public transportation conveniently. The Expo Site
is in the center of Shanghai and can be accessed by
i. Metro: Five metro lines directly serve Expo: Line 4, Line 6,
Line 7, Line 8 and the new 'circle' line.
ii. Buses: Visitors can take special Expo buses at assigned
spots to get to the Expo site directly. Many buses will run on
dedicated roadways for 2010 Expo visitors. There are 41 planned
Expo lines including 17 at traffic hubs, 9 at hotels, 9 at suburbs
and 6 in campuses.
iii. Water traffic: Visitors can access the Expo site directly
via Water Buses through "Water Gates".
Australian Pavilion
Is access to the Expo free for invited guests of the
Australian pavilion?
Participation in a business program event at the Australian
pavilion includes pavilion access on the day of the event only.
Confirmed guests (only) will be met at the Expo gate in groups
and escorted to the Australian pavilion by pavilion staff. These
guests may be able to remain at the Expo site after the event.
The detailed procedures for entering and departing the expo site
are being developed. It may be the case, for example, that guests
are also expected to leave as a group.
Can I set up a stand or a booth at the Australian
Pavilion?
No. The public exhibition is an integrated experience, which
does not involve stands and booths. If you are looking to attend a
trade show Australia is guest country of honour at the 7th China
International Small and Medium Enterprise Fair between 15-18
September. Austrade is organising an Australian pavilion which will
be Australia's largest-ever trade presence in China and AustCham
Shanghai will be taking a delegation.
CISMEF is China's largest fair for SME's in Guangzhou and in
2009 attracted 3,935 exhibitors and 254,600 visitors and achieved
sales of A$20.6 billion.Visit www.austrade.gov.au/cismef
Is it possible to receive a VIP tour of the
Australian pavilion?
All guests at business program events at the pavilion will
receive a VIP tour of the Australian pavilion, and in some
circumstances facilitated access to another pavilion.
The Australian pavilion will be offering some VIP tours during
expo, focusing on the VIPs of other countries under reciprocal
arrangements with other pavilions, and visiting Chinese VIPs.
I've heard there are key industry sectors
represented at Expo. How can my business get
involved?
Involvement in the business program is by invitation only. The
VIP facility is not for hire; exclusive use of the facility forms
part of corporate sponsorship arrangements.
AustCham Shanghai members are well-placed to receive invitations
to related events. Member details have been shared with event
hosts.
The planning for the business program is focused on key industry
sectors (below), although the final program will encompass a wider
focus, incorporating advice from AustCham Shanghai, the Australia
China Business Council and the Australia China Council.
- Resources
- Agribusiness
- Clean energy and environmental technology
- Mining services and technology
- Food and wine
- The business of sport
- Design, construction and urban planning
- Financial, legal and business services
- Consumer products (including fashion and accessories, health
and
- Well-being, lifestyle and leisure)
- Tourism
- Education and training
- The arts, culture and creative industries
- Telecommunications and information technology
- Smart technology and advanced manufacturing (including
automotive, marine, scientific and medical devices and
biotechnology)
Business Program
Who can hold a Business Program
event?
The following stakeholders will host business program events
- 1. Commonwealth Government agencies
- 2. States and territories
- 3. Corporate sponsors of the pavilion
Is there any detailed Business Program event
calendar available? Where can I get
further information?
Information on planning, and opportunities to get involved,
including a snapshot of event preparation, is available at
http://australianpavilion.com/en/about_the_pavilion/promoting_australian_business.aspx
As all business program events are invitation-only and the
invitations are the responsibility of individual event hosts, we
will not be publishing a single event calendar in advance of the
commencement of expo. Stakeholders with particular interests
should make use of the contact information on the website.
We want to showcase Australian food and beverage
products at our event, how can we go about doing
this?
DFAT has contracted the International Venue Group to undertake,
amongst other services, the VIP catering for all events held in the
Australian pavilion. If an event organiser has an interest in
including a particular food or beverage product in an event,
information is available in the Business Program Compendium and on
the secure govdex site (for event organisers only).
If you are a commercial provider interested in supplying to the
pavilion please refer to:
http://www.australianpavilion.com/en/about_the_pavilion/supplying_the_pavilion.aspx
Is there an opening
ceremony?
The opening ceremony will be held on the evening of
April 30, 2010. The Australian pavilion will
have extremely limited invitations to the opening ceremony.
The Australian pavilion will commence normal operations on
1 May 2010.
