Graduation Celebration in Shanghai

On Sunday the 22nd of August, AustCham Shanghai in partnership with the Australian Consulate General Shanghai successfully held a joint graduation celebration for Australian university graduates, Class of 2020 and 2021.

Over 300 graduates and guests joined us at the Langham Hotel XTD to celebrate this significant milestone our students have achieved during the most difficult time in international education history.

Many thanks to Mr Dominic Trindade, the Australian Consul General of Shanghai for giving a warm welcoming speech. Mr Trindade emphasised the importance of international students to help foster the relationship between Australia and China and acknowledged how the experience of studying in Australia builds lifelong friendships and provides strong building blocks for students to grow promising careers into the future.

Thank you to Wendy Min, the alumni representative and to Vivian Wang, the student representative for presenting and sharing their personal study experience in Australia and highlighting some thought-provoking career advice to our students.

A congratulatory video from the Australian universities and State Governments aroused emotion throughout the audience. A quote from one of the Chancellors: 'Although we are not with you, we are thinking of you and are very proud of all the graduates'.

We would like to extend special thanks to the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai, Australia Global Alumni, State Governments of Australia and all Australian universities, as well as our sponsors, Swan Wine, Langham XTD, and Bites & Bottle-O for the support and for making this event possible.

Again congratulations to our 2020 and 2021 Australian university graduates, be proud of your great achievements and we hope this was a day you will cherish in your memories for years to come.
