Seeking responses for
AustCham Greater China submission to 'Australia in the Asian
Century' Issues Paper

AustCham Greater China is
producing a submission to the Australian Government's 'Australia in Asian Century'
Issues Paper.
AustCham Shanghai is inviting members to provide responses on a
range of issues, including your thoughts on the current and likely
future course of economic, political and strategic change in Asia;
and the domestic economic and social opportunities and challenges
of the Asian Century for Australia.
To submit your comments via five survey questions click here. You
can choose to be quoted on your answers, or remain anonymous.
Please complete the survey by Tuesday 31 January.

host 'social media for recruitment' seminar

AustCham Shanghai looks forward
to welcoming Gina McLellan, Managing Director, Recruitment &
Contracting Asia of Talent2 to present on effectively using social
media to recruit top talent.
Gina said: "Successful companies are increasingly using social
media as a key networking platform, search, attraction and staff
retention tool as part of their Human Resources strategies."
"This seminar will provide tips on how to seek talent using
social media, and how talent can perceive you as a potential
employer based on your digital footprint."

Corporate Social
Responsibility activities update

AustCham Shanghai's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
program is in full swing, with a successful Winter Clothing Drive
and Donation Ceremony for two of our three CSR Strategic Partners
held over the Christmas period.
The Winter Clothing Drive facilitated a truck-load of warm
clothing and useful items being donated to The Renewal Center, a
drop-in resource for Shanghai's homeless population.
Center Director Jimmy McWhinney said: "With the amount of
clothes donated, I'm thinking between 70-80 people will
benefit."
AustCham Shanghai Vice-Chair and CSR Director Tim Lyons also
recently presented three sets of clothes and shoes to all 52
students of Sunshine Home, Haiwan Town, Fenxian District at a
special donation ceremony with Haiwan Town Vice Mayor Ms Sha Lina
in attendance. The clothes were made by AustCham Shanghai member
company
Shanghai Jiyi International Trading Co. Ltd using funds raised
from the Great Australian Ball XVI.

ICTE-UQ wins top
Australian export award
|

The University of Queensland's Institute of Continuing &
TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) has won Australia's most prestigious
national education and training export award.
The Australian Export
Awards recognise exporters who have achieved sustainable export
growth through innovation and commitment to quality.
ICTE-UQ was presented with the award by Federal Minister for Trade
Dr Craig Emerson at a gala event in Brisbane in December
2011.
"Being named as Australia's top education and training exporter is
a magnificent achievement," ICTE-UQ Director Ms Christine Bundesen
said.
ICTE-UQ progressed to the national award ceremony after winning the
Premier of Queensland's Education & Training Export Award in
October 2011.
