Food, Beverage and
Hospitality Industry Committee Launch
|
|
 |
The Food, Beverage and
Hospitality sector is an active and growing area of the AustCham
Shanghai membership. Australians and companies with link to
Australian services and products are excelling in Shanghai as was
evidenced by David Laris Creates (DLC) Ltd. taking out the Business
Excellence (SME) Award, Shanghai Wagas Co. Ltd scooping in the
Business Entrepreneurial Award and Kakadu winning the Austrade
Business Promotion Award at the recent AustCham Westpac
Australia-China Business Awards. There is an Australian excelling
in almost every hotel, high-end restaurant and catering chain in
Shanghai it seems, and there are multiple companies importing great
wine, beer, and fresh food into China.
It is with this in mind that AustCham Shanghai are facilitating
the first Food, Beverage and Hospitality Industry Committee for
these members to come together and discuss the latest market
intelligence and common issues and opportunities.
It is anticipated the committee could host specific events and
discuss topics such as customs and quarantine, logistics and
distribution, training and education, food safety regulation and
quality, product positioning and the Australian brand. Like other
industry committees it is anticipated the committee could work
together to provide a contact point for Australian and Chinese
officials and industry peak bodies, develop agreed positions as the
basis for lobbying regulators to affect improvements; and develop
unified promotions and messaging about Australian food and beverage
products.
Click here to register for the first meeting on Tuesday 30
November 4-6pm.

Word from an
Expert - Dr. Shi Bisset, Founding Associate, Shi Bisset &
Associates
|
|

|
The obligation of organisation development professionals is to find
the best long-term strategy for companies. The recession was a wake
up call where a lot of training programmes were scrapped - this
cascaded throughout Asia-Pacific even though we did not suffer as
much from the actual recession in China. Fort Hill, our strategic
partners, and I saw this as a great opportunity to improve learning
transfer - the amount of learning that actually gets used on the
job to improve performance.
We share very simple, realistic techniques that can actually help
align people being developed, their line managers and business
leaders who expect to see on-the-job improvement - a clear return
on investment as well. This has several important implications.
First, you have to make sure the training and development gets
transferred, not just delivered. This means you have to include
learning transfer management and performance support as part of the
overall people development design.

of your training dollar (2/12) workshop and to RSVP please
