Corporate Social
Responsibility Survey
|
|
| |

|
In response to increasing
awareness of CSR and its relevance to Chinese markets AustCham
Shanghai conducted a survey of member businesses exploring current
CSR attitudes, strategies, goals and projects.
Key findings include a general trend towards CSR as good
business practice; however successful implementation is often
hampered by lack of understanding, internal alignment and know how.
Inadequate and under trained CSR resourcing often prevents
companies from maximising CSR opportunities and creating an
effective CSR strategy.
The results of this survey are available
here and responses from this survey will be used to create an
AustCham Shanghai event series with the first event in the 1st
quarter of this year.

President Hu Jintao
Visits the Australian Pavilion
|
 |
With close to 100 days to go until the opening of the Shanghai
World EXPO, the Chinese president Hu Jintao paid a special visit to
the Shanghai World Expo Precinct and the Australian Pavilion where
BLL is engaged as the Design and Build Contractor by the
Commonwealth of Australia. This was the only international self
built pavilion other than the Chinese Pavilion to receive this
prestigious honour, in part due to it being the most advanced of
the international self built pavilions.
After viewing China's national pavilion, President Hu visited
the Australian pavilion where he spent nearly half an hour viewing
the striking, three-storey building and engaging and informative
exhibitions. He also took the time to meet and shake hands with
many of the Australian and Chinese workers onsite.
President Hu Jintao said: "I think you will certainly be a good
Pavilion and really look forward to the Australian Pavilion
becoming a highlight of Shanghai World Expo area".
"We are honoured by the President's visit to our pavilion," said
Australia's Commissioner-General for the Shanghai World Expo 2010,
Ms Lyndall Sachs.
"Australia has consistently led the way among international
participants, achieving a series of construction 'firsts' since
work began on the site in December 2008. We are delighted that
President Hu was able to see first-hand the calibre of our
pavilion's design, and also our exhibitions, many of which have
already been installed", Ms Sachs said.

Launch of
Sustainability Asia- A sustainable environment publication from CB
Richard Ellis
|
 |
CB Richard Ellis today launched Sustainability Asia - the
sustainable environment publication for real estate owners,
developers and occupiers in Asia.
The publication is a real estate industry first in Asia.
Editorial content includes green real estate news, urban governance
and town planning, corporate sustainability practices, development
and investment perspectives on sustainability, government and
regulatory change.
The real estate industry has an especially important
responsibility to play a pro-active role in climate change
mitigation, since buildings are estimated to account for anything
from one quarter to one third of the world's total energy
consumption, and also account for a similar percentage of the
word's greenhouse gas emissions.
