GABXV Community Outreach Project - Giving Tree
|
|
 |
The Great Australian Ball is
AustCham Shanghai's major annual community outreach fundraising
event and over the last 14 years has raised more than RMB
2,360,000. The money goes directly to PRC community projects and
people in need. This year the Great Australian Ball XV will be
supporting the Giving
Tree to provide deserving migrant and orphaned children with a
gift bag of new clothes, toys and school supplies for Chinese New
Year.
Beginning in 2003 with just 32 bags, the Giving Tree, with the
help of the Shanghai community, has grown steadily year after year.
This year Giving Tree aims to give out 12,000 bags to children in
greatest need with the help of their partner groups including
Community Centre Shanghai, Shanghai Charity Foundation, Shanghai
LeQun Social Service, Shanghai Pudong Social Service Centre and
Home Sweet Home.
AustCham Shanghai will commit RMB180,000 to fill 1,200 bags from
various fundraising activities on the night of the Ball. Through
this year's fundraising efforts we hope to put smiles on the
children's faces and improve lives of those underprivileged and
provide them with the excitement of receiving Chinese New Year
gifts which their families would not otherwise be able to
afford.

AustCham Dinner at the Australian Pavilion

The Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong
and Macau, and South China Chambers of Commerce continue to work
towards the creation of a single Greater China AustCham identity.
On Wednesday 11 August the Board Directors from
these Chambers will come together for the first time since the
signing of the MOU was witnessed by the Australian Ambassador to
China, Dr Geoff Raby, early this year.
The AustCham Greater China initiative has the key objectives to
provide:
• a single AustCham Greater China "identity" for
Australia-China chambers of commerce,
• ease of access and reciprocal rights for participating
chamber members with operations throughout Greater China;
• a common platform for the Australian business community in
Greater China to put forward its views on key issues;
• a single point of contact for government, consistent values;
common goals and programs; and
• consistency of image and documentation including, where
appropriate, consistent branding and communications.
