Shanghai - China's Economic Powerhouse
Shanghai is considered by many as China's economic powerhouse and the key industrial, commercial, financial, trade and services centre of China.
The magnitude of Shanghai's dimensions and its thriving character make it truly one of the world's great cities. It is a thriving, vibrant mega-city, driving growth in the Yangtze Delta and the eastern coastal provinces.
The largest in a country of multiple mega-size cities, Shanghai contributes major revenues to China's national purse by continuing to attract the highest levels of foreign direct investment and a majority of the most sophisticated projects. Its highly skilled population, including many of the finest tertiary graduates in the country, frequently delivers national firsts.
The scope of activities in which Australia is locally involved and contributes to covers educational, industrial, cultural, sporting, political, technical and every sector of business, finance, services and import/export trade.
